My Movie Marathon !

So what does a guy who likes watching movies from India do ? Does he wait patiently, like million others, for the movies to hit the theatres? Or does he, again , like million others, watch it via torrent ?
I am not here to judge what is right and what is wrong..because frankly, I don't give a shit.

I just want to share my views on some of the movies worth mentioning I saw in the past one month. Probably easy to recommend when friends ask.I know. I am awesome.

1. The Descendants

This George Clooney starrer, is one of those rare movies where there is not much of a storyline to fall back on and yet become a classic. This was the first time I saw a plot where human emotions change so rapidly. From guilt to anger and then to forgiveness.George Clooney plays the part of the emotionally-traumatised husband and an ill-experienced father perfectly. Towards the end, when he takes his wife out of the support system, his final goodbyes is guaranteed to give you a choke or two.Clooney should sweep Oscar for Best Actor for this film quite comfortably.

2. Moneyball

Yes. This is a sports movie. But if you expect this movie to have a last minute climax where the hero hits the ball out of the park and is taken on a victory lap, you're in for a disappointment. A different approach for a sports based movie. Will make an incy wincy more sense, if you know a bit about baseball. Yet, this numbers-based movie has commendable performances by Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill.  Its all about the numbers, buying and selling of players and making the team click with the right players. Someone on twitter asked if anyone has actually tried this in the IPL. Good koschen my buoi :D

3. Midnight in Paris

Woody Allen. Now we know why. There was a bit of comedy as expected having Owen Wilson in the cast. But when the movie unfolded to show a shift in time, it caught me by surprise. A writer who finds inspiration in Paris and is in an insecure relationship travels to the 1920s where he meets his role model writers at the stroke of midnight. A very moving film which leaves you warm towards the end. Watch it also for the beautiful shots of Paris.

Rating : 7/10

4.The Artist

Honestly speaking, when I first came to know that it was a silent movie, something in my head told me it was not going to be worth the hype. After downloading the movie, it took me two days to muster the courage to watch it. I was scared that I would be disappointed. And then it happened. I was dumbstruck. I was at a loss of words to describe how awesome the movie was. I fell in love with the female lead and the dog the most. The movie revisits the golden era of silent cinema and ends on a win-win note. I see no doubt that The Artist will bag the Oscar for Best Picture.

But this movie is not for everybody. Let's face it..you cannot release this sort of cinema and expect it to run for 2 weeks in India. I do not blame the audience completely. Probably there aren't film makers like that in our country.Yet. *Fingers crossed*

5. 50/50

Ever seen a movie in which you can relate to so many incidents of your life ? 50/50 is like that. A man finds out that he has a peculiar type of cancer where he has a 50-50 chance of survival. Just imagine, that the doctors give you anesthesia and you have no idea whether you're going to wake up after the surgery or not. Scary right ? This movie is exactly that. The movie shows a lot of real life incidents like how your family supports you till the end and a friend who makes you feel good till the possible last day of your life. Its not as serious as it sounds. Really funny too. Watch.

Rating : 7.5/10

6. Hugo

Another movie with Paris in the back drop, about an orphan who tries to fix the puzzles of his life. As the movie progresses, it shows the birth of motion cinema. A colourful movie which brings back some memories of your childhood. When you go up to your teacher and tell her that you finished your homework, she gives you that "Good" no ? That's the reaction. Just, good.

Rating : 6.5/10

7.  Crazy Stupid Love

That kind of a movie where a group of guys can enjoy or even with a girlfriend. (I hope that came out right.)
Story of a man trying to save his marriage by taking lessons from a man who teaches him to be cool and to pick women from the bar. Sounds familiar ? Maybe. But not with the sort of twists in the movie. Its full on comedy so no tears shed. Good watch.

Rating : 7/10

8. Grown Ups

So after a f**ked up day at the office, you just want to sit back, relax and watch a movie ? Then this probably fits just right. Adam Sandler, Chris Rock,Rob Schneider,Kevin James and David Spade ! If that's not the cast for a ROFLMAO kinda movie, I don't know what is. Totally hilarious with the usual small moral of the story as well. I really laughed till my stomach hurt. So go ahead, watch and laugh your ass out.

Rating : 7/10

9. Larry Crowne

A man loses his job because he does not have a degree and goes to college to study. There he blends in with the 'youth' and transforms himself. Also picks up professor. That's all. This ordinary storyline may sound boring. But not with Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts in it. A feel-good movie.

Rating : 6/10

10. Real Steel

Apparently, in the future, the main entertainment is Robot Boxing.
*enna koduma sir ithu*.
But still, nice graphics and gives you that little adrenaline rush. 'Little'. Watch in HD. Otherwise go and watch Deshdrohi.

Rating : 5.5/10
